How To Detect If One has Sickle Cell Anemia?
how do you detect if some one has sickle cell anemia, do they take some type of test at birth or do they know later on in there lifes when having problems? and please be specific and very detailed with the type of testing.

1.They detect it with a blood test called a Sickle Dex -they just draw blood and test for Hemoglobin S -which is present in someone with Sickle cell anemia. However this also tests to see if the person is just a carrier. They do other tests ( all blood tests) to diagnose this further
They may do this at 6 months of age or when the person shows signs of a crisis.
